For many it will feel like a day of rest with only the three meetings after the post-Christmas rush of the last four days.

Lingfield leads off with the first card of its two-day fixture and South Lanarkshire trainer Keith Dalgleish, who is finishing 2018 with a flourish after five wins from 15 runners this month, has three runners on the card with two more the following day.

Haydock stages The Last Fling Handicap Chase (2.00). The gallant old chaser was owned by Trevor Hemmings, who happens to have four runners on the card including one in the feature.

Taunton stages the classiest race of the day with a Listed race for mares which keeps Wednesday's Wincanton winner Posh Trish busy.
