British Stallion Studs EBF Lyric Fillies' Stakes (Listed) | 1m2½f | 3yo + | ITV4/RTV

Franconia will make a belated first appearance on the Knavesmire after being a late absentee when scheduled to tackle the Group 3 Musidora Stakes at the track earlier this month.

The highly regarded daughter of Frankel had been ante-post favourite for that contest on the back of her emphatic comeback win in Listed company at Newbury in June.

A three and three-quarter-length winner from subsequent Listed scorer Cabaletta that day, Franconia will be out to match the exploits of her stablemate Fanny Logan, who captured this prize for trainer John Gosden a year ago.

Although she has a 3lb penalty to carry for her Newbury success, Franconia represents the three-year-old generation who have a good recent record in this.

Gosden said: "Franconia had to miss the Musidora as she scoped dirty a couple of days beforehand. She was treated for mucus but is fine again now and this track and trip should suit her fine.

"She's been working nicely and won't mind if any of the forecast rain arrives. She has a penalty, which won't make things easy, but hopefully she can pick up some more black type."

What they say

Michael Bell, trainer of Bighearted
She's back at her optimum trip after her comeback run at Pontefract and will strip fitter for that. If she can reproduce her three-year-old form then she wouldn't be without a chance.

Tim Gredley, part-owner of Eva Maria and Craylands
Both fillies should be suited by the step up in trip and the plan is to get black type in what looks a hot little race.

Roger Varian, trainer of Gold Wand
She didn't really get home in the Oaks and should be suited by this flatter track and drop in trip. It looks a nice race and hopefully she can get some black type.
