Many people associate the first sign of autumn as leaves changing colour, conkers on the ground or blackberries ripening in hedgerows.

Those immersed in racing, however, will point to the sight of 34 runners in a bet365 Cambridgeshire cavalry charge down Newmarket's Rowley Mile as heralding the end of summer and start of a new season.

John Gosden's record in the £120,000 handicap – known to many as the first leg of the autumn double – is well documented. He's won it five times via Halling (1994), Pipedreamer (2007), Tazeez (2008), Wissahickon (2018) and Lord North (2019), with Tazeez his only non-three-year-old scorer.
