ITV Racing tips: one key runner from each of the ten races on ITV4 on Saturday
1.20 Wetherby
bet365 Handicap Chase, 2m3½f
The lightly raced Gericault Roque had a profitable hurdles campaign last season, including two impressive victories, and the five-year-old is pitched straight into handicap company for his chasing bow. The same applies to Revels Hill, who landed a game success on his last start over hurdles at Warwick in April.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: CORRAN CROSS
Unexposed over fences and could play a leading role now back down in distance
Ascot Underwriting Chase, 2m3f
Kid Commando formed the middle leg of Anthony Honeyball's treble on this card last year and bids to give the trainer a second successive win in this race on his first start over fences. Nassalam was a smart juvenile last year but needs to bounce back to his best as does Solo, a 13-length winner of a Grade 2 on his British debut in 2020.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: SAM BARTON
Lightly raced six-year-old; switching to fences could unlock further improvement; leading contender
bet365 Mares' Hurdle, 2m, Listed
Molly Ollys Wishes rocketed through the ranks with a three-timer last season and makes her return from 244-day absence, having been seen last when third in the National Spirit Hurdle in February. Her rivals include the progressive Miranda, a Grade 2 winner last season, and Marie's Rock.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: ZAMBELLA
Best runs have been over fences but she's a contender if transferring that form to hurdles
Bateaux London Handicap Hurdle, 1m7½f, Listed
This year's running could unearth a top-class performer for the season and it could be the unexposed Boothill, an easy winner on his sole hurdle start last season and highly regarded by connections. He takes on Betfair Hurdle winner Soaring Glory, last seen when fourth in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle, and the progressive Ajero.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: BOOTHILL
Unexposed handicap debutant and looked really good in winning his novice
Paul Kealy's Saturday banker at Wetherby
The popular 2019 Stayers' Hurdle Paisley Park makes his return to action at the Yorkshire track and, despite winning another Grade 1 last season, must bounce back from a no-show at the Grand National meeting. Master Tommytucker, who reverts to hurdles, and the classy Thomas Darby are among his main rivals.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: MASTER TOMMYTUCKER
High-class 2m4f/2m5f chaser; 2-2 over hurdles early in career; can be hope he'll stay 3m
Byrne Group Handicap Chase, 2m1f, Listed
Editeur Du Gite turned a new leaf in the second half of last season when culminating with a win in the Red Rum Handicap Chase at the Grand National meeting, and bids for a welcome victory for the Moore family. Last year's winner Amoola Gold is back for more, while One For Rosie could be highly progressive.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: GREY DIAMOND
Won in good style at Sandown in March and form of subsequent Aintree fifth can be upgraded
The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on Saturday
Ladbrokes Champion Chase, 3m, Grade 1
Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Minella Indo gets the ball rolling on his new season in a top-class running of the Down Royal showpiece, with Rachael Blackmore back in the saddle on the eight-year-old. The popular Frodon, who will aim to give Paul Nicholls a fifth win in the race, Delta Work and the progressive Galvin provide stern opposition to Henry de Bromhead's star.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: MINELLA INDO
Gold Cup winner does well fresh; the standard bearer here and will be mighty hard to beat
bet365 Charlie Hall Chase, 3m, Grade 2
Cyrname attempts to get his career back on track in the Wetherby feature as he bids to win the race for the second year in succession.
The nine-year-old won impressively last year before two dismal efforts and faces a strong field this time, which includes Grade 1-winning novice chaser Shan Blue and last season's Scottish Grand National hero Mighty Thunder.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: CYRNAME
Disappointing after winning this last season but could bounce back with a big run
3.20 Ascot
Bateaux London Gold Cup, 3m, Grade 3
The evergreen Regal Encore was a memorable winner of this race last year and aims to become the only 13-year-old to win this race in what would be an emotional victory for connections. The 2019 victor Vinndication bids to regain his crown and is a classy performer on his day.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: JERRYSBACK
Poor conversion rate but he's got tempting form and his stable is going well
Mackenburg was a 25-length winner of his final start in novice company last season and steps into handicaps for the first time with a useful 5lb claimed by Theo Gillard. Bourbon Beauty was a Grade 2 winner in March, while Pagero bids to defy top weight after his win at Worcester in September.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: HAAFAPIECE
Goes well fresh, and at Wetherby, and has dropped to a handy mark; one to consider
