The 34-runner charge down the Rowley Mile for the bet365 Cambridgeshire is one of the undoubted handicap highlights of the year, but concerns have been raised over prize-money levels with this year's winner set to earn £38,000 less than in every year from 2007-2019.

Connections of Majestic Dawn would be forgiven for being a tad annoyed at the timing of their push for back-to-back victories at Newmarket given last year's reduced winner's prize of £74,700 is now down to £61,848 on Saturday.

Not since Lear Spear's triumph in 1998 will the Cambridgeshire winner have earned less, with the total a stark fall from the roughly £99,600 allocated to the winner in each year from 2007-2019.
