The build-up to this year's Shergar Cup has had more drama than your average Aussie soap opera and it doesn’t take long on raceday for the latest instalment as Michelle Payne, who has travelled halfway across the world to ride, is officially declared a non-runner.

The Australian ace, who famously told the doubters to get stuffed after her Melbourne Cup win and reportedly did something similar at a media event to promote the Shergar Cup on Thursday when she was under the weather, has failed to recover in time.

But fear not, a replacement is on hand, and while she might not have travelled from Melbourne, Hereford-born Hollie Doyle is an able deputy and just about ready for action.
