International distance should pose no problem - but it might not change much

Ten years ago, when Frankel provided that fortifying win for the late Sir Henry Cecil in the Juddmonte International, it was felt that the supreme thoroughbred was adding an important dimension to his stallion profile with the proof that he could stay international racing's glamour distance of a mile and a quarter.

As Baaeed, the unbeaten hero of the present, prepares to undertake the same test it is possible to argue that he is not quite at the same crossroads as his predecessor.

There is optimism that the colt will get the trip as stamina already looms large in his pedigree. His brilliant sire Sea The Stars is a staying influence and his dam, Aghareed, was a ten-furlong Listed winner.
