'I'm looking forward to the ride' - which jockey is counting down the hours?

Davies Insurance Services Gala Stakes (Listed) | 1m2f | 3yo+ | RTV

This might be only a Listed race but it has attracted a stellar line-up and many of the runners have competed at Group 1 level.

Addeybb has won four Group 1 races, including the Champion Stakes at Ascot in 2020, and he appears to have a class edge. He is 5lb clear of his nearest rival on Racing Post Ratings, but that is based on him reproducing the form of his second in last year's Eclipse.

He has run only twice since and failed to reproduce that form either time, so needs to prove he is still capable of performing to that level at the age of eight. However, two of his six highest RPRs have come at this course, so if he is going to do it anywhere it will likely be here.

Regal Reality also likes this track and he recorded his career-best RPR over course and distance when third in the 2019 Eclipse behind Enable and Magical. There evidently is not anything of their quality in this line-up, but Regal Reality disappointed on his last start here in the 2020 Eclipse and has not got within 10lb of his career best since.

Passion And Glory represents Saeed bin Suroor, who won this twice in a row from 2014-15 with Windhoek and Tha'ir. Passion And Glory recorded the best last-time-out RPR of any runner here when fifth in the Dubai Gold Cup at Meydan, but that was over two miles and this is an entirely different test at a mile and a quarter.

What they say

William Haggas, trainer of Addeybb
He's run only once this year and he's now eight and there's nothing else for him. As we know, he needs soft ground but it doesn't look like he's going to get it. It looks the right race for him and he likes the track. He's not going to be as good on this ground but he's still a good horse and I hope he'll run a good race.

David Probert, rider of Foxes Tales
I had a sit on him yesterday morning and he seems to have come out of Royal Ascot in great form. If they get any rain it will help him but as a long as it's safe he should be okay on it. He did well to finish where he did at Ascot considering he was drawn in stall 16. They stacked us up in the race and he did well to finish sixth. I'm very much looking forward to the ride.

Thady Gosden joint-trainer of Harrovian
He ran well to be third in the Wolferton Stakes at Royal Ascot. Obviously, it's a competitive race but he goes there in good shape, although any rain would be a negative.

David Menuisier, trainer of Solo Sizzler
It's a strong contest but off his rating of 106 it's debatable whether it's best to run in handicaps or Listed level but were giving this a go. We feel the uphill finish will suit him and he should handle the ground so we hope for another good showing.
