It's Racing Post Gold Cup day at Cheltenham. Who wins the big one?

Donal McInerney, jockey I like Dostal Phil. He is 8lbs better off with Lalor on their run in the Paddy Power. He was only a length behind Lalor that day on what was his first run for 197 days so I'd be expecting him to improve plenty for that. He could have a big shout.

James Stevens, journalist A boring one but I really like Lalor. He should come on plenty – mentally and physically – for his fine third in the Paddy Power and the New course places more emphasis on stamina, which will likely play to his strengths here. He is clearly well handicapped on his top-class old form. Zanza has always promised to land a big prize, he would be my each-way selection.

Richard Young, Raceform analyst Although Midnight Shadow had a fitness edge when taking the Paddy Power last month, he won with more in hand than the margin suggested and could go well on similar ground. However, I'm siding with Beakstown, who showed he retains his ability after a long break at Aintree last month (form franked) and, although now tackling open company, this sound jumper can do better.
