'I wouldn’t be quick to proclaim Envoi Allen the next Arkle'
What is your view on a wide-open Ladbrokes Trophy?
Anthony Honeyball, trainer The Ladbrokes Trophy is just so wide open with the bookies betting 7-1 the field. My runner Regal Encore has solid form and I think he’s overpriced. Otherwise, Cloth Cap has a lovely racing weight and sports first-time cheekpieces, while Kildisart is another I think can go close.
Jamie McBride, William Hill I’m surprised how strong Vinndication has been in the betting in recent days given how bad his jumping was in a Newbury schooling session last week – cheekpieces will need to have a positive effect. I don’t fancy anything strongly enough to part with any cash but Two For Gold and Potterman have solid-enough chances.
Maddy Playle, RPTV I tipped Two For Gold ante-post and I’ve been loyal to him ever since. He ran well on return over an inadequate 2m3f and will be much more at home over this trip, where his jumping can be utilised and he can be ridden prominently, tactics which are often favoured in this race.
