This race probably revolves around Giorgio Vasari, who swept aside nine rivals in the easiest of fashion to score at Wolverhampton on Friday and now turns out quickly under a 5lb penalty.

It is something that trainer Ivan Furtado likes to do and he has had his fair share of success. His record with horses reappearing within seven days of a win stands at 8-38 (21 per cent) and that compares favourably to his strike-rate with all his winners next time out, which stands at just nine per cent.

The main concern regarding Giorgio Vasari is that Wolverhampton is Tapeta and Lingfield is Polytrack. His form figures on Polytrack read 7859, so it is far from certain that he is equally effective on the surface. However, if he can repeat his Tapeta form, he should win.

Ower Starlight is another with questions to answer at Lingfield but at least he has won on Polytrack at Chelmsford. He did record his highest Racing Post Rating here, but that was on soft turf and this sharper Polytrack circuit poses a different test.

There isn't a course winner among them, so maybe trainer form could prove key and nobody has their string in better nick than Kevin Philippart de Foy, who has four wins from 17 runners in the last fortnight for a 24 per cent strike-rate.

He saddles Aurelia Gold, who is having her second run for the yard after finishing sixth at Chelmsford last month.

What they say

Ivan Furtado, trainer of Giorgio Vasari
He's come out of his last race well. We think Lingfield will suit him as long as they go a good gallop. It's always 50-50 when you're turning a horse out that quickly, but we're happy with him.

Amy Murphy, trainer of Steel Duchess
It's very much a learning curve. I've stepped her up in trip off the back of her being slowly away and she doesn't fly at home, so I thought if she could just travel a bit more in her comfort zone she can go nicely. I think she'll run well.

Jack Jones, trainer of Chagall
He had our first win, which was awesome, then backed up under a penalty to run very well and finish second, and then went to Wolverhampton and anticipated the start, so we knew our fate from fairly early in the race. From where he finished, having blown the start by ten lengths, he would have won. He's still well handicapped so fingers crossed for a big run.

Julia Feilden, trainer of Heer's Sadie
The step up to a mile seemed to suit her last time. We'd never run her at Lingfield before but we found she was just going through the motions a bit, and I think Lingfield just gave her a bit of a different interest. Sam [Feilden] gets on well with her, he won on her last year. I just hope she backs it up, she's very well handicapped now.
