'I couldn't be happier' - who fancies their chances in the Epsom feature?
Tuesday: 3.50 Epsom
Terry Mills Handicap (Jockey Club Grassroots Sprint Series Qualifier) | 6f | 3yo+ | RTV
George Scott is enjoying the best season of his career and his 20 per cent strike-rate is well up on his 12 per cent average return over the last five campaigns.
Mellys Flyer has supplied two victories for the stable this term and this 6f handicap provides a good opportunity to add a third.
However, the early favourite tends to produce his best after breaks. The son of Dandy Man has recorded a career-best Racing Post Rating each time he has returned from a layoff of 51 days or longer, and has failed to match that form on his next run. Mellys Flyer has to overcome a a 32-day turnaround this time.
Tony Carroll won this race last season with Recon Mission and fires two bullets in Endowed and Repartee.
Both are outsiders and have struggled on their last few starts, although Repartee has slipped to a dangerous mark.
A Listed winner for Sheikh Mohammed Obaid, Repartee is a stone lower than when he joined Carroll from Kevin Ryan.
The handicapper has eased him a further 2lb from his last run over 7f at Kempton in May and there was enough encouragement that day as he picked off a few rivals late on to claim fifth.
Six furlongs at Epsom is as sharp as Repartee will want it, but you can bank on plenty of early pace in this contest. If he can keep tabs with the likes of Boogie Time, Pablo Del Pueblo and La Roca Del Fuego, he can pounce late providing he is ready after 104 days off the track.

What they say
George Scott, trainer of Mellys Flyer
I've been pleased with him since Newmarket. I feel he's finally grown up and I couldn't be happier going into the race. It's a unique track which he's handled well. He's won over seven furlongs there so it seems a sensible place for him to run.
Geoffrey Deacon, trainer of La Roca Del Fuego
A stiff five furlongs or an easy six suits him best. He won the first time at Windsor, second time he went faster but was beat and the third time he did a faster time again but he was up in grade. He's getting quicker all the time but he needs to prove he stays six furlongs, up in grade. I'm concerned about the track for him – he seems best on a flat track. He's won at Lingfield but his best form is on the all-weather.
Mick Appleby, trainer of Blissful Song
She's had a bit of time off. She's in good order so I expect her to run well. She's still on a decent mark and she's fit enough. My only slight concern is whether she'll handle the track. If she does, she'll go very well.
