Horses to note for this evening's meetings
York is almost here, but there's still the small matter of three meetings to tackle this evening. The Flat action comes from Yarmouth, while jumps fans have Newton Abbot and Sligo to keep them entertained.
Alternate Route (5.10 Yarmouth)
Bookmakers are usually on red alert when a Sir Mark Prescott-trained runner makes their handicap debut. Alternate Route has cut little ice in three maidens, beating only one rival. But a longer trip could bring about more improvement.
Honkytonktennessee (7.00 Newton Abbot)
This eight-year-old has been one of many summer jumpers making hay for the Skelton team and bids for a fourth win of the year. However he is not entirely straightforward and has an 11lb rise to deal with following his most recent success at Stratford.
Market's Field (7.50 Sligo)
Earlier in the month this five-year-old won a handicap hurdle at the track and returns trying to bag a hat-trick having also secured a chase success at Wexford on his penultimate start. Trainer Enda Bolger is a rare visitor to the course having only had two runners here in the last five seasons, Market's Field being one of them.
