Having a bet at Epsom? Here's what you need to know before you do

The ground is expected to be good to firm for the Derby on a sunny and warm afternoon at Epsom.

The official going is good to firm on the 5f course and good for the rest of the track, but warm temperatures and a breeze could change that description before the Classic at 4.30.

Clerk of the course Andrew Cooper said: "I've walked the course twice today at 6am and 10.30am and on both occasions it was good to firm on the five-furlong course and the Derby was prominently good.

"With the temperature already at 23C and with a bit of a breeze, the ground is going to dry and I anticipate it could be good to firm by the time of the Derby."

After winning yesterday's Oaks, punters are putting their faith in Frankie Dettori to complete the Derby double with Circus Maximus.

The Dee Stakes winner is one of seven for Aidan O'Brien and has shortened from a general 14-1 chance into 10-1 for Derby glory, while stablemate Sir Dragonet remains an unchanged 11-4 chance at the head of the market.

The going is good apart from on the home straight and 5f course where it is good to firm. The forecast is for a sunny day with the temperature to reach 27C.
