After spending weeks deciding whether or not to go to Paris next month, it must have taken just seconds for William Haggas to choose to head to Scotland on Saturday.

After all the speculation, it was announced on Wednesday that Baaeed will miss the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Europe's richest race, on October 2.

Instead, Shadwell's superstar will wait for the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot. Although Haggas described it as "the only logical solution," he said there had been "much consultation with Sheikha Hissa" and debate is sure to have raged over whether it was worth gambling the unbeaten colt's legacy by having a crack at Longchamp.
