Ground at Ascot changes to good to soft following overnight rain
The ground at Ascot has eased to good to soft for Saturday's King George meeting following nine millimetres of rainfall at the track overnight.
Further heavy rain could hit the course from 9am with Ascot on the edge of a yellow weather warning for rain in London and the South East of England.
Clerk of the course Chris Stickels said at 7am: "We're now good to soft, and it is still drizzling a little bit. From what I've seen so far on the forecasts and radar it looks like we've had the bulk of it and it is an improving picture for the rest of the day.
"We were thinking we would get five or six millimetres. The track is fine, it is now just good to soft."
Prior to the overnight rainfall, the going at Ascot was described as good to firm, good in places on the Round course.
Ascot was not the only track to be hit by heavy rain in the south of Britain with conditions easing at Lingfield.
The going at Lingfield is now good to soft, soft in places (from good, good to firm in places) following 20mm of overnight rainfall.
