Going eases at York after rain but Newmarket still quick

Racing on the second day of the July festival looks set to take place on fast ground as the good places were taken out of the going description at Newmarket, leaving the ground as good to firm.

Some forecasts had suggested that rain would strike Newmarket on Friday morning but it had not arrived by 7.30am.

Morning showers are possible but it is expected to be a largely dry day. The first race is at 2.10.
