Point-to-point fan Fry feeling no pressure on Newbury bow
A new name joins the training ranks in Newbury's hunter chase on Friday when Ciara Fry, wife of leading trainer Harry Fry, saddles her first runner under rules.
Triangular, twice a winner in point-to-points for Fry last season, will be partnered by 17-year-old Ben Godfrey, who landed a Southwell bumper for the professional side of the operation on Monday. The pair face eight rivals, including last-time-out winner Man Of Steel.
"I only have a couple of horses and it's just for fun. I've got enough to do around the yard for it to be any more than that," said Fry.
"I love it and used to assist Richard Barber with his point-to-pointers. It's great to go pointing because that's where you see some lovely young horses."
Fry added: "I'm not feeling any pressure whatsoever. The main point of having the two horses is to give the young lads here the chance to have a spin.
"Ben, who rides Triangular, is a real talent. The horse is very easy-going but his best days are behind him. He could hopefully run into a place."
