Frankie Dettori stole the show again on day one of Glorious Goodwood with a double, which was headlined by a historic victory on Stradivarius in the Goodwood Cup. He returns to the Sussex Downs on Wednesday for four rides and with many punters putting his mounts in combination bets, we assess their chances.

Kosciuszko (2.25) general price5-1

One of the best-backed runners on the card, Kosciuszko is vying for favouritism at 5-1 (as big as 15-2 this morning) on handicap debut in the opening contest. The John Gosden-trained colt won on the second of his two juvenile starts at Sandown and shaped encouragingly when fifth on his return at Newbury 20 days ago.

Maven (3.00) 9-2

Wesley Ward breaks new ground with a first runner at Goodwood in the shape of Maven, and the US trainer turns to trusted ally Dettori for riding duties. The son of American Pharoah, second favourite in a market headed by Liberty Beach, had an aborted trip to Royal Ascot due to the rain but made amends when making it two wins from two starts in a Group 3 at Chantilly.

Too Darn Hot (3.35) 11-10

The key horse for many punters on day two, Too Darn Hot is a strong favourite for the feature £1million Qatar Sussex Stakes after a dominant performance in the Prix Jean Prat this month. Last year's champion juvenile needs to turn around the form from the St James's Palace Stakes with Circus Maximus, but connections believe the sharp mile will suit him well.

Lyndon B (5.55) 6-1

If the first three of Dettori's rides go in, bookmakers will be running for cover with Lyndon B in the closing 7f handicap. Dettori will partner the George Scott-trained three-year-old for the first time and he goes into the race in good form after a decisive success at Leicester on his handicap debut 13 days ago.

What is a Yankee?

A Yankee consists of 11 bets with six doubles, four trebles and one four-fold accumulator. Although some bookmakers recently imposed restrictions on Dettori accas at Royal Ascot, Ladbrokes confirmed to the Racing Post that there were not any in place on Wednesday.
