Field sizes hit as conditions ease after Wednesday's deluge
Thursday's meetings have been plagued by non-runners, with Betfred Dante Stakes favourite Cracksman among 19 taken out at York.
All bar two of the 19 non-runners are on account of the going, which is officially soft, good to soft in places following 10mm of rain on Wednesday and 28mm in total during May.
This week's rain has had a dramatic impact on the going as there were good to firm places at York as recently as Monday.
It is unlikely that York will be hit by further rain on Thursday, according to assistant clerk of the course Anthea Morshead.
Morshead changed the going to good to soft, soft in places (from soft) after inspecting the course shortly after midday.
Salisbury received a total of 26mm of rain during Wednesday's deluge and has been hit by 18 non-runners. The going at the Wiltshire track is largely good to soft, with soft places in the last two furlongs. The forecast is for a dry day with the outside chance of showers
There are four non-runners at both Fontwell and Perth, and five at Newmarket, bringing the day's total number of absentees to 50 just after midday.
