bett365 Wood Ditton Stakes | 1m | 3yo | ITV4/RTV

The Wood Ditton, for unraced three-year-olds, always brings together some fascinating pedigrees, and this year's race is no exception with the Charlie Appleby-trained sons of Classic performers of particular interest.

Secret State is by Dubawi and a brother to three-time Listed-winning filly Onassis, whose black-type victories came over seven furlongs and a mile. The 525,000gns Tattersalls Book 1 yearling is also a half-brother to the trainer's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf winner Line Of Duty and to Listed-placed filly Hibiscus. They are out of the Rock Of Gibraltar mare Jacqueline Quest, who was first past the post in the 2010 1,000 Guineas.

A year later Blue Bunting won the Newmarket fillies' Classic for Godolphin before going on to complete a Group 1 hat-trick in the Irish and Yorkshire Oaks. Her son State Event, a Shamardal close relation to the Listed-placed Blue Creek, also makes his debut for Appleby.

William Buick partners likely favourite Secret State, with James Doyle aboard State Event.

Francesco Clemente, the first foal bred by Peter Brant's White Birch Farm out of their 1,200,000gns purchase Justlookdontouch, makes his debut for John and Thady Gosden.

The Dubawi colt is a half-brother to the triple Listed winner Abingdon and hails from an outstanding Ballymacoll family; his dam is an unraced Galileo three-parts sister to champion Islington.

Sea The Stars also has two representatives. I Am The Sea, trained by William Haggas, is bred on the same cross with Mark Of Esteem as the Prince of Wales's Stakes winner Crystal Ocean, while the Ed Walker-trained American Flag sports the silks of owner-breeder Bjorn Nielsen of Stradivarius fame.

Amo Racing's runners have made a fast start to the season and £190,000 yearling Toophan makes his debut for Roger Varian. The son of New Approach was bred by Jim Bolger and is a brother to Bolger's Round Tower Stakes winner New Treasure.

What they say

Charlie Hills, trainer of Caesar Nero
He had a couple of niggly problems last year which just held us up getting him on to the track. I'm glad we're able to be getting him out now and his spring work has been pretty good.

Thady Gosden, joint-trainer of Francesco Clemente
He's done well over the winter and has been training well ahead of the race. It seems really competitive as always. He didn't run last season but he's strengthened over the winter and hopefully the ground doesn't dry up too much for him.

Tom Clover, trainer of Rogue Rocket
We bought him at the breeze-ups last year and he's done some nice work this spring. He was slightly immature as a juvenile and we wanted to take our time with him, but he's come to hand in the last month to five weeks. We could be up against a superstar, but he deserves to get started here.

Emily Scott, racing manager to Amo Racing, owners of Toophan
He's a physically impressive horse and I actually saw him on Tuesday morning and he looked fantastic. He'll come on for the run, but he's ready to make a start. He shows enough pace to start over a mile and it's the sort of race you'd like to target with an unraced three-year-old. We'll learn a lot more about him after the race, but he's a lovely individual.
