Do you think we saw the winner of the July Cup on Saturday?
With Blue Point getting ready to enjoy the good life as a stallion, there is space at the top of the sprinting tree. Speak In Colours, Invincible Army and Limato made their cases to occupy one of the higher branches on Saturday, although of that trio, the one I like the most is far from certain to line up. Limato won the July Cup in 2016, and was second to Harry Angel the following year. The seven-year-old has not got age on his side, but he does have experience and plenty of class. I'd take him as an each-way shot, especially on quick ground, but connections may sidestep Group 1s in favour of some Group 2 targets so it is worth waiting to see if he lines up.

Invincible Army obviously has a shout. He didn't look like a Group 1 horse at Ascot but it could be he simply doesn't like the place, as that's twice now he's disappointed at the royal meeting. He was impressive at York before that and odds of 8-1 for the July Cup are fair, although he'll have his work cut out beating Advertise. The Martyn Meade-trained colt looked really good in the Commonwealth Cup and the blinkers clearly made a difference. Three-year-olds have a great record in the July Cup too, as they've won three of the last four runnings and had three of the first five home last year.
