Henry de Bromhead playing the numbers game in bid to bag Killarney feature

Henry de Bromhead: up and running for the week at Galway after Annie G landed the novice hurdle
1 of 1

Friday: 4.00 Killarney
BoyleSports Handicap Chase | 2m1f | 4yo+ | RTV

Henry de Bromhead is the man to watch ahead of this handicap chase with five of the 11 runners hailing from his Knockeen base in County Waterford.

But who has the best chance? Rachael Blackmore has elected to ride Raya Time, suggesting he's the stable's number one but a strong case could also be made for Arvico Bleu off a light weight.

Raya Time has proved something of a slow burner over fences, but having finally got off the mark in good style at Wexford a fortnight ago he looks interesting back in a handicap off just 3lb higher.

Arvico Bleu's case is obvious. He was an impressive winner of a Clonmel beginners' chase on his last start, handles good ground and has talented 7lb claimer Mike O'Connor on board. He should go close.

Raya Time: got off the mark over fences last time

Enda Bolger won this race 12 months ago with Everlastingpromise, who rates a danger despite bidding for a follow-up off 12lb higher.

Willie Mullins is doubly represented with Andalusa and Pont Aven, the latter looking the stable's first choice under Paul Townend.

Batcio, trained by Ted Walsh, is a good horse when on a going day and is another to consider in what looks an open race.

What they say

Eddie O'Leary, racing manager for Gigginstown House Stud, owners of Assemble, Valdieu and Arvico Bleu
Assemble is carrying an awful lot of weight but we have a good claimer taking seven pounds off his back. Valdieu is a decent horse on his day but what day we catch him on remains to be seen. Arvico Bleu would have a chance. He has a lovely weight and comes into the race in decent form.

Enda Bolger, trainer of Everlastingpromise
He’s in good form and will like the good ground. He won this race last year but is up a good few pounds now. He goes well around Killarney so I’m looking forward to a good run.

Henry de Bromhead, trainer of Le Musigny, Raya Time, Capuccimix, Zarkareva and Arvico Bleu
Raya Time won well the last day and we’re looking forward to seeing how he gets on back in a handicap. Arvico Bleu is in off a nice weight and Le Musigny is also in good shape. Capuccimix has been off for a while but his winter form would give him a good chance. Zarkareva ran well the other day so hopefully he has a chance as well.

Ted Walsh, trainer of Batcio
He won well at Wexford but this is a much better race. If everything falls right for him he has a good chance. He’s in good shape.
