Gavin Cromwell stole the show at Bellewstown in sending out seven winners across four days at his local track including easy winner Quantatmental, who will be bidding to maintain the yard’s blistering run of form in this rated contest at Roscommon.

Quantatmental is reported to have come out of that Bellewstown success in rude health and, while it isn’t ideal to be running just four days afterwards, Cromwell made the decision to roll the dice due to a lack of alternative options for the four-year-old.

He said: “It's not ideal turning him out so quick but the conditions of the race suit him and there's nothing else for him for a few weeks.

“There's a €30,000 four-year-old only handicap at Ballinrobe next month and he could also go to Galway, where he'd probably run on the Flat, but we'll get this over with first.”

Cromwell added: “I'm happy with how he came out of his win at Bellewstown, but you just don't know how well they've taken it until you run them, so hopefully he can back it up.”

A follower of Wexford hurling, Paul Nolan will have been floating since their Leinster final success more than a week ago and Shawshank, who was so impressive at his local track last time, could provide the trainer with plenty more to smile about.

In winning well at Wexford last month, Shawshank was redeeming his reputation after throwing away a likely success when unshipping Bryan Cooper well after the second-last, which Nolan believes was due to the gelding shying at a shadow cast by the big screen.

Nolan said: "He had a bit of a shimmy looking at the big screen but seems like a nice horse and we'll see where we stand here.

"This will be against better opposition and there's a good few recent winners in it, but we're happy with him."

Gigginstown are doubly represented with Judgement Day and Soldier At War. Speaking about the pair, racing manager Eddie O'Leary said: "We've no big plans for Judgement Day but we hope he can be competitive here. Soldier At War is quite a nice horse so hopefully he can step forward."

Miami Beach won a maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan last time and Frank Berry, racing manager to owner JP McManus, is hopeful of further progression from the Joseph O'Brien-trained gelding.

He said: "He did it nicely and came out of the race well. The Kilbeggan race wasn't the strongest but we think he can run well here."
