A bumper crop of meetings over jumps and on the Flat mark the last day before the start of Aintree's Randox Health Grand National meeting.

The highlight of the day will be at Leopardstown, where a seven-race card is headlined by the Listed Heritage Stakes (5.00) over a mile. The Aidan O'Brien-trained Amedeo Modigliani will be looking to step up on his muted seasonal reappearance at Naas last month.

Market Rasen hosts seven races, while the Carling Handicap Chase (3.15) at Wincanton sees veteran favourite Bally Longford take on a youthful field of rivals including talented six-year-old Saintemilion, trained by Paul Nicholls.

Southwell provides the afternoon's all-weather action before eight races under the lights at Kempton.

Final thought

Leopardstown's Flat meeting features a whole host of unexposed names from top stables, but the one who really catches the eye is the Dermot Weld-trained Tarnawa in the fillies' maiden (3.30). The three-year-old was a close second behind the well-regarded Peach Tree in a Listed race at Naas in October and, already rated 98, could be one watch today and for the rest of the season.
