Can Speak In Colours paint a pretty picture in Listed Dash for O'Brien?
Latrobe came agonisingly close to backing up off a big run at Royal Ascot when second in Friday’s Curragh Cup for Joseph O’Brien and the trainer will be hoping that Speak In Colours, who posted a massive effort when fourth in the Diamond Jubilee at the royal meeting, can go one better in Saturday’s Dash (2.20).
Returning to the scene of his greatest triumph, having won a Group 3 over course and distance almost a year ago, Speak In Colours brings the strongest form to the table.
Speaking about his chances, O'Brien said: "He’s backing up quickly after running a big race in the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot. We're very happy with him and hope he can finish in the money."
Aidan O’Brien is also well represented in this Listed contest with Gossamer Wings, on whom he reported: "She's been working well and I'm very happy with her."
"He loves the Curragh and he'll love the ground," Hogan said. "There are plenty of runners so there should be a good gallop, which will suit him. He's been running consistently well in defeat and one of these days a race like this will fall into his lap."
Hogan added: "He's enjoying his job and as soon as he isn't, he'll tell us, but he hasn't told us anything yet!"
Awesome Addeybb out to gain Group 3 honours
Wolferton Stakes winner Addeybb will be out to supplement his Royal Ascot win for William Haggas in the Group 3 International Stakes (3.30) but faces stiff opposition from the home team, including the Joseph O'Brien-trained Buckhurst.
Aidan O’Brien is represented by Blenheim Palace, who will be bidding to put a disappointing effort in the Prix du Jockey Club behind him under Seamie Heffernan.
O’Brien said: “He was a bit disappointing in France last time but was a good second in Derrinstown the time before that. He's in good form and he should go well.”
Meanwhile, Dermot Weld provided an upbeat bulletin on hat-trick seeker Georgeville, and said: "He's very well. It’s a big step up for him but I expect him to run very well."
