Boxing Day ITV Racing tips, ITV7 Competition and free bets
There's top-class racing to look forward to on Saturday as ITV will be broadcasting live action from Kempton and Wetherby. The feature race of the day is a vintage renewal of the Grade 1 Ladbrokes King George VI Chase () at Kempton, as defending champion Clan Des Obeaux faces tough opposition in Cyrname and Gold Cup runner-up Santini.
This weekend’s racing promises to be as exciting as ever and Racing Post experts have picked out the best tips for all the televised races to help you find more winners.
Don't forget you can download the Racing Post app and place your bets with our seven bookmaker partners without having to switch applications.
ITV Racing Tips
Racing Post expert Stuart Redding picks his best bets for Boxing Day’s ITV Racing in a bid to help you find more winners.
3.00 Kempton
Clan Des Obeaux is confidently expected to give Paul Nicholls a record-breaking 12th King George VI Chase success. He burst onto the scene when winning this from Thistlecrack in 2018 and scored again last year, staying on far too strongly for his nearest pursuer Cyrname and two other finishers.
Cheltenham’s Gold Cup test doesn’t suit him so well so you can easily forgive an eighth there in March, and he made a decent comeback behind course specialist Bristol De Mai at Haydock last month. That should have set him up perfectly as he bids to join the all-time greats with a hat-trick of victories in this Christmas feature.
1.50 Kempton
Some decent chasing prospects clash here and Dan Skelton’s Shan Blue is the pick. His sole win from six runs over hurdles came in a Southwell maiden but he was always expected to make a better chaser and the six-year-old has made a successful switch to fences, easily winning a pair of Wetherby chases in October.
Stepping up to three miles sparked a career best last time out, as he beat Snow Leopardess by 16 lengths, and that form looks even better after the runner-up went and landed a decent handicap chase three weeks later.
ITV7 Competition Tips
The ITV7 competition is back and is completely free to play, with a potential £50,000 up for grabs. Users will need a Sky Bet account to enter so if you don't already have an account, sign up using the link below and take advantage of the free bet offer. Here, Racing Post experts make their selections for the competition to help you find more winning selections.
Race 1 - 1.15 Kempton
A few of these have potential but Alnadam showed plenty of zest when landing a recent Sandown handicap and should have the speed to cope with this lesser stamina test.
Race 2 - 1.34 Wincanton
A few experienced contenders here could be vulnerable to improvement from the youngster Normandy Soldier, who made a favourable impression last term over hurdles and ran well on his recent chase debut.
Race 3 - 1.50 Kempton
Flawless over fences and brimming with talent, Shan Blue makes the most appeal. He finished behind The Big Breakaway in the Ballymore but has the better chance based on their subsequent chasing exploits.
Race 4 - 2.05 Wetherby
The Alan King-trained Canelo has thrived since cheekpieces were applied and he shaped well when second over an extended two miles six furlongs at Newbury last time. The extra yardage here should prompt further improvement.
Race 5 - 2.10 Wincanton
In an open handicap contest a chance is taken on Amelia’s Dance. The hood is an interesting addition given she's shown a tendency to race freely, yet she was still best of the rest behind a subsequent winner last time.
Race 6 - 2.25 Kempton
This is all about Epatante, who has become the leading light in the two-mile division and still has plenty more left in the tank.
Race 7 - 3.00 Kempton
Cyrname has made an immeasurable contribution to the jumps scene but he can meet his match here in stablemate Clan Des Obeaux, who has swept home in this race for the last two years and was particularly impressive when striking in 2019.
