David Nicholls, who has landed this prestigious sprint handicap twice in the last 11 years via Ice Planet (2005) and Tajneed (2008), sends out the ‘big two’ in the market, Orion’s Bow and Kimberella.

The former, who made the boldest of bids to complete a six-timer in the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood a fortnight ago, beaten a length and a quarter by the talented three-year-old Dancing Star, is now officially rated 37lb higher than when launching his winning run at Newcastle in May and is likely to be competing in Listed or minor Group company before too much longer. He holds a strong favourite’s chance.
