Big chance on another big day for high-flying sprinter Ejtilaab at Newcastle
Betway All-Weather Sprint Championships Conditions Stakes | 4yo+ | 6f | ITV4/SKY
Ejtilaab is clearly a horse for the big occasion as he won at Epsom on Derby day last year and on the Northumberland Plate card here three weeks later.
He returns to Newcastle with every chance of doing it again on Finals day, having run to a career-high Racing Post Rating in winning impressively at Kempton last month.
Exalted Angel was second in this last year, with Harry's Bar sixth, while Bouttemont bids to emulate City Light in 2018 by landing this for France.
What they say
Yann Barberot, trainer of Bouttemont
He acts very well on the all-weather and he showed a lot of speed the other day at Chantilly in running a very good time. I'm looking forward to running him
Mick Appleby, trainer of Edraak
He has a very good chance. He's been trained for this race and he's working very well.
Charlie Fellowes, trainer of Ejtilaab
He's been in really good nick and this has been the plan since he returned from Dubai. I think he has a lot going for him; he has won over the course and distance, he's the highest-rated horse in the race, and he's coming in on the back of a career-best performance. I thought the manner of his win at Kempton was outstanding.
Karl Burke, trainer of Exalted Angel, Lord Of The Lodge & Spycatcher
Spycatcher is in good shape and moving well. If he runs like he did in the Kachy Stakes, he should have every chance. Lord Of The Lodge has come back from Dubai in good shape and I can see him running a big race. He has a good record at Newcastle. Exalted Angel would have been at least third in the Kachy Stakes had he not been hampered close home. We gave him a break and he is coming back to himself now.
Ado McGuinness, trainer of Harry's Bar
Harry's Bar favours the all-weather and everything about the race at Newcastle should really suit him. The straight course takes a bit of getting and he will enjoy it if they go hard and come back to him. I can see him running a big race.
