Arculli thought 'very seriously' before making Paris call
Ed Dunlop sends Red Verdon out to bat at Group 1 level for a third time, having been left with little option but to supplement once again by a progressive colt who started the spring off a mark of 76. Fortunately, owner Ronnie Arculli, a former chairman of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, has never been afraid of a challenge.
Dunlop said: “I've been lucky enough to train Red Cadeaux along with a lot of other horses for him and Ronnie is a very ambitious guy who does think very seriously before making a decision.
"We had Red Verdon entered to run in the Bahrain Trophy and the Princess of Wales’s Stakes at Newmarket last week, but Ronnie assessed it and, between us talking, he felt the horse had as good a chance in the Group 1, which in turn meant we had to supplement again.”
