Altior and Native River warm-up for Cheltenham with Denman Chase and Game Spirit

Newbury hosts three Graded races this Saturday with two superstars set to have their final outing ahead of their respective Cheltenham Festival targets.

The Grade 2 Game Spirit Chase and Betfair Denman Chase have been good guides to the Champion Chase and Gold Cup in recent years, whilst the feature race, the Grade 3 Betfair Hurdle, has in the past pinpointed candidates for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle.

Altior won the Game Spirit Chase in 2019 before landing the Champion Chase at Cheltenham a month later. Nicky Henderson will be hoping for an easy race but despite the few in opposition, dangers still lie with Sceau Royal and Dynamite Dollars.

Native River won the Denman Chase at Newbury in 2017 and went on to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup the following year. He sets a very high standard, and will once again clash with old rival Might Bite.
