All you need to start your day including going from all the tracks
Jumps devotees might see Southwell, Lingfield and Wolverhampton, and think it is a day of all-weather action. But they would be wrong, as in Nottinghamshire and Surrey it is the winter game that takes centre stage.
There is plenty of intrigue in a competitive novices' handicap chase at Southwell (12.50) and division one of the fillies' novice stakes at Wolverhampton (1.40), which features Sun Maiden, a half-sister to Midday by Frankel.
Lingfield's feature might be the veterans' chase (3.00), which is over 2m4f, fairly short for such a race, and includes old favourites such as Grand Vision and Vino Griego.

Final thought
The Becher Chase has attracted exactly the sort of field one would expect, but it still excites. A finish akin to what Blaklion and Vieux Lion Rouge served up in Haydock's Grand National Trial in February would do nicely.
