Catterick plays its part in a landmark moment for Frankel this afternoon as Solo Saxophone becomes the iconic superstar's first runner over jumps in the juvenile hurdle (12.50).

Placed in three of his five starts on the Flat and bought for €62,000 at the Goffs Horses In Training Sale in October, the Dan Skelton-trained colt faces nine rivals on a debut certain to generate plenty of interest.

Fakenham, meanwhile, has passed a second inspection and will join Catterick in providing the jumping action, while Southwell stages an all-weather fixture.

Final thought

Halcyon Days has been a real star for Rebecca Menzies, having improved a staggering 32lb last season. He makes his second start of the campaign in the 1m7½f handicap chase at Catterick (2.50) and on the evidence of his comeback at Ayr last time, he looks well capable of winning more races.
