Wednesday is referred to by many as 'hump day', given that it signifies the half-way point in the working week and transports us that bit closer to the weekend.

With a weekend as exciting as the one to come, that is a sentiment to be embraced but there is plenty to keep us entertained this afternoon, with five meetings across Britain and Ireland and a Hong Kong card to enjoy too.

What to back

Sam Lawrie has you covered if you are looking to have a bet at Happy Valley today.

Tom Park, meanwhile, has a tip a little closer to home and the best thing is, you only need ten seconds to find out what it is.

What to read

Harry Fry is responsible for one of the leading fancies in Saturday's Ladbrokes Trophy. Find on his thoughts on the chances of American here.

To get you in the mood for the big race, why not relive the magical day that Carruthers fulfilled his destiny at Newbury.

What to watch

The Racing Postcast team looked ahead to the weekend's action on Monday and you can catch up with the show here if you missed it.

Paul Nicholls also took some time out to run us through some of his runners across the country this coming weekend.

Final thought

It is excellent to see Hereford finally back on the schedule today. It is always worth keeping an eye on the action there as a few smart types appeared first at this venue, most recently Finian's Oscar last December.
