All-star Arabian day and UB40 concert set to prove a big hit
Chelmsford on Saturday hosts its first UAE Abu Dhabi day, with the six-race card also set to feature UB40 playing to the sell-out crowd.
It will be the first time a British track has hosted the HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup, a Group 1 for purebred Arabians, and legs of the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies and Apprentice World Championships on the same card.
The Al Nahyan Cup includes proven older horses such as Kalino, the winner of the 2015 HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Jewel Crown, the world's richest Arabian race.
Ellie Mackenzie represents the UK amateurs in the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship. Mackenzie is currently heading the ladies' championship and is just behind the leader in the thoroughbred Silks Series.
The winning riders of the ladies and apprentice races will qualify to ride in the series' finals in Abu Dhabi.
Gemma Cobb, ARO racing operations executive, said: "I'm looking forward to seeing some competitive Arabian racing at this track. Our meetings have always been well received by local racegoers and it has been sold out for weeks."
