Rank outsider Sovereign produced a considerable upset at the Curragh as he claimed victory at 33-1, making all to record just the second win of his career.

The son of Galileo is an uncomplicated, strong-galloping stayer who was simply provided with too much rope – and Padraig Beggy was good enough to capitalise on the opportunity presented to him.

It's worth noting that the Derby winner and runner-up – Anthony Van Dyck and Madhmoon – sweated up. Whether that played a role in such sub-par efforts remains to be seen, but it's certainly worth highlighting.
