2.30 Lingfield: the one race you simply must not miss on Thursday
2.30 Lingfield
Ladbrokes Home Of The Odds Boost EBF Fleur de Lys Fillies' Stakes | Listed | 1m | 3yo+ | Sky
Why is it interesting?
John Gosden fields three runners in this fast-track qualifier at the Surrey track in a bid to pull further ahead of Aidan O'Brien in the battle for the trainers' title that concludes on Saturday week.
In the absence of Frankie Dettori, stable number two Rab Havlin has elected to ride She's Got You, who will be a valuable commodity if getting her head in front as a sister to Group 1 winner Without Parole.
The daughter of Frankel, who was just touched off in this company at Newmarket last time, is joined by stablemates Scentasia and Muchly on another black type mission.
Not to be outdone, O'Brien ships over the busy Coral Beach, who is one of four runners the Ballydoyle trainer runs across the fixture, including Delphinia (3.35), who was runner-up in the Group 1 Fillies & Mares on Champions Day.
A Group 3 winner over seven furlongs at two, Coral Beach has yet to recapture that form this term but was only beaten nine lengths when finishing eighth in the Irish 1,000 Guineas in May.
It is not unknown for penalised runners to oblige in this so it may pay to keep an eye on Breathtaking Look despite her 5lb burden for winning the Group 3 Sceptre Stakes at Doncaster last month.
What do the stats say?
Sheikh Juma Dalmook Al Maktoum, who has two representatives in Crossing The Line and Scentasia, won this with Muffri'Ha in 2016 and 2017.
Jim Crowley and Stuart Williams have a 27 per cent strike-rate when teaming up and the pair combine with Breathtaking Look.
William Haggas's overall strike-rate of 22 per cent rises to 40 per cent with runners sporting a first-time tongue-tie. Solar Gold is fitted with the aid.
What do connections say?
Stuart Williams, trainer of Breathtaking Look
She's very well in herself. She has a penalty for winning at Doncaster, but she does not want soft ground ideally so there is nothing for her on the turf at this time of year. We also thought we would run here with a view to the final on Good Friday, were she to run well or indeed win the free slot. She has not run over a mile before, but I would be very hopeful of her staying the trip.
Bruce Raymond, racing manager to Sheikh Dalmook Al Maktoum, owner of Crossing The Line
She's run all her best races on the all-weather and races as if this return to a mile should suit. She's reasonably drawn and goes there with a good chance.
Amy Murphy, trainer of Rock On Baileys
It's new waters for her as she's primarily a sprinter so we'll ride her with a bit of patience and this will tell us plenty. She already has black type and there are no more sprints at the level this year so we're giving this a go.
Richard Spencer, trainer of California Love
She doesn't have a lot to find at the ratings but has a wider pitch than ideal. She disappointed at Doncaster last time but she hated the soft ground that day.
Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to Khalid Abdullah, owner of Chaleur
She did well last year and we were expecting a bit more from her this year but she wasn't beaten far at Newmarket last time, and hopefully she should take to the all-weather.
Barry O'Dowd, assistant to John Gosden, trainer of Muchly, Scentasia and She's Got You
Rab Havlin has chosen to ride She's Got You, who ran well at Newmarket last time and goes there in good shape. Scentasia is a keen goer who may not have got home over a mile and a quarter last time and this trip should be better for her. Muchly has also been training well.
