Varian postponed plans to work his King George hope until the long gallop on the Limekilns was available and Andrea Atzeni seized the best ground to cruise clear of Ajman Bridge over a mile. Ajman Bridge could yet be employed as a pacemaker at Ascot next weekend when Sheikh Mohammed Obaid's star goes for back-to back wins in the Group 1 feature, a sequence last achieved by Swain in 1997-8.
