Politologue cashes in but Chacun Pour Soi looks the two-mile king in waiting
The leading two-mile chasers in Britain and Ireland were in winning action over the weekend but, while Politologue earned the higher RPR, Chacun Pour Soi could hold a class edge if they meet.
Politologue (173) looked as good as ever at the age of nine, earning the highest RPR of the week at Sandown. His task in the Tingle Creek Chase was made easier by the withdrawal of Altior on account of the ground, but the way he stormed clear to the line suggests he probably would have won either way.
Altior is fast rising eleven and, after a curtailed 2019-20 campaign, we simply don't know how much of that old greatness he retains. Natural regression means he's unlikely to hit 180 again and his success this season will depend on exactly how far above 170 he can get. As a guide his only run in the last year earned him an RPR of 173.
