PJA issues Lesters warning due to congested fixture list

Jockeys have been warned that the Stobart Lesters, their annual awards ceremony, may have to take a break due to the mushrooming fixture list.

The event used to be held on Good Friday, as that was a non-racing day, and when that tradition ended it moved to a date just before Christmas.

It will be held on December 22 this year, but Professional Jockeys Association chief executive Paul Struthers said: "This year’s Stobart Lesters is certain to be a glittering event but may be the last for a little while.
