The miles Jack Mitchell has clocked up travelling to Germany finally delivered the biggest reward when he landed his first Group 1 in Sunday's 156th Grosser Preis von Baden.
The jockey has become something of a European specialist after making regular trips to Germany during the last 13 years, with rides also taking him to Italy, France, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Those overseas experiences helped prepare Mitchell for the landmark success aboard the Roger Varian-trained Saddadd, who edged out Parachutiste in the closing stages for the four-year-old's first Group 1 of his own.
