Pauling looking ahead to Newbury next month for his star Barters Hill
Betfair Hurdle day at Newbury next month has an added attraction after trainer Ben Pauling nominated the three mile handicap hurdle on the card as the revised return for Barters Hill.
Pauling delayed the eight-year-old's intended return two weeks ago at Haydock with concerns about the stable's form and the prevailing heavy ground.
Pauling said on Sunday: "He remains very well and there are a couple of races on the horizon for him.
"It's more likely to be February 10 at Newbury in the 0-145 handicap hurdle (Betfair Cash Out Handicap Hurdle) all being well."
Barters Hill slipped a tendon off his hock on his chasing debut at Cheltenham in November 2016 and it was touch and go whether he would race again.
He had gone into the 2016 Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle having won his previous seven starts, four bumpers and three hurdles. including the Grade 1 Challow Hurdle, but was beaten into fourth by Unowhatimeanharry.
