Path to success? Lostintranslation most popular Tote Ten To Follow pick
Betfair Chase winner Lostintranslation is the most popular Tote Ten To Follow selection, with 60 per cent of entrants selecting the Colin Tizzard-trained Cheltenham Gold Cup favourite.
This season's Tote Ten To Follow in association with the Racing Post was launched on Saturday, with players picking a stable of ten horses to represent them during the 2019-20 jumps season until Saturday, April 25 next year.
After dethroning two-time Betfair Chase winner Bristol De Mai at Haydock in the first Grade 1 of the British jumps season, Lostintranslation appears to be firmly on target for the Ladbrokes King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day and is the number one pick with Tote Ten To Follow players.
Paisley Park, who returned to action on Friday with a comfortable win in the Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury, is the second most popular selection, with Andrew Gemmell's staying superstar in 59.6 per cent of entries.
There was an early blow for the 52.1 per cent of entries that included Buveur D'Air. The dual Champion Hurdle winner was turned over at odds of 2-13 in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle and is likely to miss the rest of the season. Trainer Nicky Henderson confirmed Buveur D'Air underwent surgery on Sunday after he suffered a "very serious" splinter injury in the race at Newcastle.
Tingle Creek contender Defi Du Seuil, Altior's Ascot conqueror Cyrname and unbeaten Royal Bond Novice Hurdle winner Envoi Allen are the fourth, fifth and sixth most popular runners in the competition, with Champ, Laurina, Klassical Dream and Chacun Pour Soi completing the top ten.
A total of 58,427 teams have been entered in the paid-for competition, with 4,609 teams in the free competition.
The early leader is on 178.1 points following big-race success for De Rasher Counter in the Ladbrokes Trophy and Fairyhouse Grade 1 victories for Envoi Allen, Fakir D'Oudairies and Honeysuckle.
