Owner Broom hoping Gold Cup hero Native River can silence doubters at Haydock

Garth Broom, owner of Gold Cup hero Native River with wife Anne, is hoping their star chaser can overcome perceived ground doubts in his rematch with Might Bite in an epic-looking Betfair Chase at Haydock tomorrow.

The retired Somerset farmers own Native River under the name of Brocade Racing and the main aim this campaign is a repeat bid at the Cheltenham Festival blue riband in March, a day that has "still not sunk in" for Broom.

Native River landed the Gold Cup on soft ground and is a general 11-4 second favourite, with the re-opposing runner-up Might Bite heading the market with the race sponsors at evens, something that does not concern Broom.
