'He could be one to look forward to in the spring' - our expert marks your cards

Neon Lights Trainer: Willie Browne
4th, 7f three-year-old maiden race, Dundalk, January 6

Last week was a time for Irish racing, particularly jumps racing, to take a breath after the hectic Christmas period. Dundalk returned from its two-week hiatus and the 7f maiden run on Friday evening looks as though it might throw up a few winners.

Neon Lights was a little awkward away from the stalls and was never quite able to catch up, but showed some promise entering the home straight. Had he not run a little green and become unbalanced for pressure inside the last furlong, he might have finished second to the convincing winner Anann.
