Yorkhill facing big task against Gold Cup hero on seasonal debut

Yorkhill starts his season in the Leopardstown Christmas Chase (3.00) and his performance in this Grade 1 will help us decide on plans for him for the rest of the season.

We've always rated him very highly and he was beaten only once over fences last season when his tendency to jump to the left cost him the Ryanair Gold Cup at Fairyhouse on his final start of the campaign.

Returning to a left-handed track will suit him and he seems in good form, but he's facing a big task taking on Sizing John and we'll just have to see how he gets on. He's been working really well and, while he has never raced over three miles, his pedigree suggests the trip won't be a problem.
