Yet another new face leaves racing and betting searching for white paper clues

The revolving door at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has spun again and has this time caught up and deposited Paul Scully MP at the desk designated for the gambling minister.

It was December 2020 when Nigel Huddleston launched a gambling review promising to make regulation of the industry "fit for the digital age" but between then and now there have been no fewer than five gambling ministers and so far none of them has been able to finally publish the government's proposals.

The wait for the now almost fabled white paper goes on and yet another change in personnel at the DCMS would suggest a further delay to its appearance, much to the chagrin of campaigners, the gambling industry and British racing's leadership.
