Wise beyond his years: Browne McMonagle could be heading right to the top
Champion apprentice Dylan Browne McMonagle could have been excused a moment of quiet satisfaction after riding Bring Us Paradise to victory in the team competition at Bellewstown last Wednesday, a well-crafted win achieved in the presence of Frankie Dettori.
Last October Dettori lashed out verbally at the young Irish rider for his tactics on Baron Samedi in the Long Distance Cup on Champions Day at Ascot, branding him a "disgrace" in contributing to his own difficulties on Stradivarius. It was an unwarranted and petulant display on the part of Dettori, whose subsequent apology was not exactly unqualified.
However, Browne McMonagle shrugged off the incident, showing he has a wise head on young shoulders.
