Why there's no scandal at all in having two odds-on shots in the same race

There was so much controversy over the weekend that one event which ordinarily would have provoked plenty of debate passed without much comment.

That event was the novice chase at Wetherby on Saturday which was notable because the industry starting price system currently operating produced not one but two odds-on chances, the 10-11 shot Malystic beating the 5-6 favourite Sir Valentine.

Usually an SP return of that nature would have been dissected in minute detail but, although there was some critical comment, events on the track at Cheltenham attracted all the attention – both equine exploits and photographic shortcomings.
