When are owners going to demand radical change?

I had hoped, like I’m sure many others involved in the racing industry, that Bill Barber’s interview with the new CEO of the BHA, Julie Harrington (June 30), was going to talk about kick-starting a whole new change of focus on prosperity for our sport’s struggling situation. Sadly not.

When are owners going to stand up and demand a radical change? When are they going to make the ­government see the BHA model just does not work? When is racing going to be allowed to run its own affairs like the FA, PGA, LTA etc?

All through the interview there were ­references to the wishes of ­government, yet we have no idea how much they know about the racing industry or marketing and growing an industry in the commercial world.
